MSNBC Guest Reads Definition of a Sociopath Off Piece of Paper While Analyzing Trump

August 23, 2017

MSNBC guest Donny Deutsch on Wednesday read out a definition of the word "sociopath" on Nicolle Wallace's "Deadline: White House" to describe President Donald Trump.

"It dawned on me. You can't analyze this anymore, and I did some homework. And there's nothing good about this. I need about 40 seconds," Deutsch said.

"How to determine if someone is a sociopath," he continued. "It's a condition that prohibits people from adapting to ethical and behavioral standards or community."

Then, Deutsch began reading characteristics of sociopaths that he seemed to have printed out beforehand.

"Sociopaths are usually extremely charming and charismatic. Sociopaths oftentimes feel entitled to certain positions, people, and things," Deutsch said. "They believe their own beliefs and opinions are the absolute authority and disregard others. They're rarely shy and insecure or loss for words, have trouble suppressing emotional responses like anger, impatience, or annoyance."

"They do bizarre, risky, and outrageous things without assessing repercussions," he continued. "They're professional liars. They fabricate stories and make outlandish, untruthful statements. And they get comfortable with their lying. They get bored easily and require constant stimulation. They get comfortable with their lying."

Deutsch paused for a few seconds to turn a page and continued.

"Sociopaths are incapable of experiencing guilt or shame for their actions," he said. "They're manipulative, they may try and influence or dominate people to gain positions of leadership. They have a hard time dealing with criticism."

"Now we have to go to break," guest John Heilemann said, clearly wanting to move on.

"No, I mean, you start—I'm not being glib here," Deutsch responded.

"I know you're not," Wallace said.

"You have to say, and I'm not being glib here, what's wrong with this man? It's interesting, so many traits of a sociopath this man is displaying," Deutsch said.

Deutsch previously challenged Trump to a fight in the school yard because of his tweets attacking Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
