MSNBC: Dems 'Embarrassing Themselves' Pretending Not to Know Gruber

November 18, 2014

Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski slammed Democrats and President Obama for pretending not to know the now infamous Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber—particularly in light of a new video that shows President Obama himself praising the MIT economist and claiming he "stole" his ideas.

Although Obama claimed Gruber "never worked on our staff," Brzezinski pointed out that Gruber did, in fact, earn $2 million from a government contract for advising on the Obamacare legislation.

"Watching those two sound bites back to back of the president back when he first mentioned Gruber's name and saying he didn't know him--I agree, now he should say that guy is an idiot," Brzezinski said. "He's a total jerk. He's completely a hypocrite."

Scarborough said Democrats were "embarrassing" themselves by playing dumb on Gruber’s involvement in designing the unpopular and deceptive health care law.

"If these people that are trotting themselves out every couple days saying ‘Who Gruber? Where Gruber? Horton hears a Gruber. I don’t hear a Gruber’--They're embarrassing themselves," Scarborough said. "Nancy Pelosi saying she has never heard of Jonathan Gruber, and yet she’s praising him at the height of the debate during the Affordable Care Act?"

The video of Obama praising Gruber's ideas in 2006 was discovered by American Commitment.
