Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D., Ill.) was corrected by MSNBC host Erica Hill after he claimed that the entire House Republican Conference was united behind Donald Trump in an interview on Thursday.
"He's the new face of the Republican Party. He came, he triumphed, and he left, right? And he now speaks for every member of the House of Representatives and he is the president, the leader of the Republican Party," Gutierrez said. "He's the new face, so, it's the Trump party now and it's something that they're going to have to deal with.
"Although we should point out there are a number of Republicans, both lawmakers and voters alike who have not united behind Donald Trump," Hill said. "We look at House Speaker Ryan being one of them, so, they probably would not agree that at the moment it is the Party of Trump."
"OK, OK, OK, yeah," Gutierrez said while Hill was correcting him.
Gutierrez seems to be ignorant of the day's biggest news being that the reason Trump was in Washington, D.C., very close to Gutierrez in fact, was to hold meetings with Speaker Paul Ryan and other Republicans in Congress because there is a well-known lack of party unity behind Trump.
