Craig Robinson, the brother of First Lady Michelle Obama, has been fired as basketball coach of Oregon State.
In his six seasons at the helm, Oregon State went 94-105 and failed to make the NCAA tournament each year. This past season, the team went 16-16 and finished near the bottom of the Pac-12 conference.
Robinson had three years remaining on his contract, and Oregon State is expected to still owe him about $4 million. His hiring coincided with the election campaign of Robinson's brother-in-law, Barack Obama, according to Sports Illustrated.
Robinson began his tenure with a 18-win season in 2008-09, as he took a team that had lost 21 consecutive Pac-10 games and put the program on the right track. That coincided with the election campaign of Obama, as Robinson introduced his sister, Michelle Obama, at the Democratic National convention in the summer of 2008. From there, Robinson had uneven results at one of the Pac-12's hardest jobs. He's finished with a 39-69 record in Pac-12 play.
President Obama, additionally, is terrible at basketball.
