Markay: Emails on Weiner's Computer Could Have Serious Consequences for Abedin

November 1, 2016

Washington Free Beacon reporter Lachlan Markay said Monday that emails on Anthony Weiner's computer that led to the FBI relaunching its probe into Hillary Clinton's private email server use might very well implicate top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, his estranged wife.

During a separate probe into Weiner over allegations he sexted with a minor, the FBI discovered emails pertinent to its earlier investigation of Clinton. FBI Director James Comey sent a letter to Congress informing lawmakers of the development, touching off a political firestorm over the letter's timing and its effect on the presidential campaign.

Appearing on the Fox Business show Kennedy, Markay gave his theory as to who could face problems in the Clinton orbit from the email scandal's latest developments.

"The most probable cause of this renewed probe into Clinton is the possibility that there are emails on that computer that were not turned over to the FBI in the first place," he said. "That may or may not implicate Hillary, but I think it's more than likely that it implicates Huma, and if she in fact told the FBI she had turned over all these emails when she hadn't, you're talking about some very serious potential charges there."
