Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D., Ill.) had trouble remembering who the Senate minority leader was on Wednesday, but eventually CNN’s Brooke Baldwin helped him out.
Gutierrez appeared on MSNBC to talk about immigration with Katy Tur and referred to a meeting between House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), and President Donald Trump. He struggled to remember Schumer’s name, however, stuttering for several seconds before just calling him "the senator."
"We all remember when senator—when the senator and the minority leader, Pelosi, met with President Trump, they said we need to marry border security with the Dream Act," he said.
By the time he was on CNN later that afternoon, Gutierrez still had not remembered Schumer’s name, although he had recalled what state he represents.
"I don't know if you remember, Brooke, when they came out of the meeting, Nancy Pelosi and the senator from New York, they came out—" Gutierrez said.
"Schumer," Baldwin interjected.
"Schumer," Gutierrez repeated.
