A New Hampshire news station condemned the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Friday for placing its only debate in the Granite State a full six weeks before the primary.
In his weekly segment Winners & Losers, NH1 political director Paul Steinhauer said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) and the rest of the Democrats did themselves no favors with the party’s debate schedule.
"I’m going to give the Democratic National Committee ‘Loser of the Week,’" Steinhauer said.
Steinhauer pointed out the GOP will conduct its only interview in the state on February 6, 2016, right before the primary. Schultz, however, elected to place the Democratic debate in December, a full six weeks before the first ballots are cast in New Hampshire.
The DNC has come under fire from candidates Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) and Martin O’Malley for having only six official debates, four before the Iowa caucus. O’Malley compared the DNC to the World Wrestling Federation.
The candidates complain the limited debate schedule is a purposeful effort to ensure Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination.
