Senator Mark Kirk (R., Il) warns of Iranian nuclear proliferation in a video released Wednesday that highlights the need for strict sanctions against the Iranian regime.
"I have one significant worry, that the Iranian program is the North Korean program," Kirk says in the video. "We've seen a whole set of detonations in North Korea, probably with Iranian observers."
The video was unveiled earlier this week at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) annual Policy Conference. Much of the conference has centered around the nuclear threat from Iran.
Kirk has been at the forefront of action against Iran, including his work on the 2011 Kirk-Menendez amendment, which imposed harsh economic sanctions on Iran.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has said that Iran needs to open suspected nuclear facilites to UN inspectors who are continually denied access.
