Katy Tur Confesses on Air She's Unfamiliar With One of Obama's Major 2012 Hot Mic Moments

February 21, 2017

MSNBC reporter Katy Tur admitted to Rep. Francis Rooney (R., Fla.) on Monday that she was unfamiliar with the moment when former President Barack Obama was caught telling Russia's outgoing President Dmitry Medvedev he would have more "flexibility" with Russia after his reelection in 2012.

Tur told Rooney that she noticed a lot of conservatives in President Trump's administration having a friendlier view of Russia than the Obama administration.

"Well, I think that it was Obama that leaned over to Putin and said that 'I will have a little bit more flexibility to give you what you want after the reelection,'" Rooney said.

"I'm sorry I don't know what you are referring to Congressman," Tur said.

Rooney tried to jog Tur's memory, and said that nobody had pushed Obama on what he meant by that.

"I can only assume that for a thug like Putin that it would embolden him," Rooney said.
