Reps. Mike Conaway (R., Texas) and Adam Schiff (D., Calif), leaders of the House Intelligence Committee, have requested any tapes that might exist of conversations between President Donald Trump and fired FBI Director James Comey.
Conaway and Schiff submitted their request to White House counsel Don McGahn on Friday, Politico reports.
They asked that any tapes be produced by June 23.
Interest in possible recordings of the conversation between the two was prompted by a tweet from Trump in mid-May, just three days after firing Comey. Trump tweeted that Comey "better hope that there are no 'tapes' of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!"

The White House has subsequently refused to reveal whether or not such tapes exist.
Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, in no small part about a conversation in which Comey claimed Trump hoped he would back off an investigation into fired National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.
"Look, I've seen the tweet about tapes," Comey said during his testimony. "Lordy, I hope there are tapes."
