Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) still remains somewhat unknown to the voters in her own state, despite receiving national attention.
In a poll by the Public Policy Institute of California, 30 percent of Californians say they're unsure of how to rate Harris' performance in office, Politico reports on Thursday. This includes 20 percent of Democrats.
The poll also shows that California's other Democratic senator, Dianne Feinstein, has had her approval rating drop since last year. From approximately one year ago, Feinstein's approval rating has dropped from 56 percent to 49 percent, a seven point loss. Feinstein is expected to run for reelection in 2018.
California is a Democrat-leaning state that voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. President Donald Trump has a low approval rating in the state, with around 31 percent of Californians approving of his performance.
Harris first won election to the Senate in 2016, after serving as the state's attorney general for six years. Her election to the Senate caused speculation over whether she will be running for president in 2020. Feinstein has represented California for 25 years in the Senate.
