A Crossroads GPS ad targeting Sen. Mark Begich (D., Alaska) features the Washington Free Beacon's report that, while the senator touts his work on the issue of gender pay inequality, his office pays women 71 cents for each dollar he pays his male employees.
The average female salary in the senator's office is $23,504 less than the average male salary.
This gap is much wider than the pay gap in most other Democratic senators' office. The average salary for a male Democratic Senate employee is $5,500 higher than the average female salary.
In Alaska, women earn 67 cents on every dollar a man makes. The ad highlights Sen. Begich's hypocritical public denunciations of this fact.
"Equal pay for equal work is more than just a matter of fairness—it’s a smart way to help working families achieve the American dream," Begich has said.
