Washington Free Beacon founding editor Matthew Continetti said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's impeachment strategy to temporarily withhold articles of impeachment from the Senate has failed.
"What strikes me is how unserious Nancy Pelosi has been," Continetti said on Special Report with Bret Baier on Tuesday. "The trial will start a month after the vote to impeach Donald Trump. If it was really as urgent as they were telling us for months, they would've gotten this process underway immediately. They didn't because they were waiting for some bombshell. What broke tonight was not it. Instead, it has blown up in Nancy Pelosi's face."
Speaker Pelosi said she withheld the articles of impeachment to ensure a fair trial at the outset, a decision she was criticized for by both Republican and Democratic members of Congress.
