CNN rejoices! The blue wave that hit the nation last Tuesday was bigger than the people at CNN expected.
Democrats were able to win back control of the House of Representatives by gaining over 30 seats. The party also gained seven governorships but lost seats in the Senate. While CNN might be surprised by the results, FiveThirtyEight predicted the outcome before the votes were counted.
Despite rising Democratic stars like Rep. Beto O'Rourke (Texas), Georgia State Rep. Stacey Abrams, and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum (Fla.) losing or lagging behind in votes in their races, CNN took solace that the blue wave was more than a blue ripple.
