The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) has released a new ad knocking Democratic Congressional candidate Danny O'Connor for his support of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.).
O'Connor is running against Ohio State Sen. Troy Balderson (R.) in the August 7 special election for Ohio's 12th Congressional District.
CLF Communications Director Courtney Alexander released a statement hitting O'Connor for his support of Pelosi as Democratic leader and her plans for Social Security and Medicare.
"First Danny O’Connor lied about his support for Nancy Pelosi, and now he’s lying about Social Security and Medicare. The only thing O’Connor has proven to Ohioans throughout this campaign is that he’ll do or say anything to get elected," Alexander said. "Dishonest Danny is already backing Nancy Pelosi’s extreme agenda, including her plan that cuts Medicare spending by $800 billion. Ohioans deserve a leader like Troy Balderson who they can trust to put their interests first, not Nancy Pelosi’s."
This ad is part of CLF's ground effort in Ohio which has resulted in 500,000 doors knocked and phone calls to voters.
In the ad, a clip plays of O'Connor's dodging followed by confirmation of his support for Pelosi in an interview with MSNBC host Chris Matthews. The narrator then says that O'Connor has been lying about supporting cuts for Medicare by $800 billion.
