The ever aware Hardball host Chris Matthews asked Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) how he felt his candidate, Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.), did in the debate Saturday night.
The problem: Graham is supporting former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
"Senator Graham, what did you think about tonight? I thought it was a disastrous night for your candidate," Matthews said.
"For Jeb Bush?" Graham asked.
"Oh, is that your candidate? I thought your candidate was Marco Rubio. I'm sorry," Matthews said.
Matthews looked a little bit surprised that Graham was supporting Bush.
"I'm a Bush guy. I like Marco, but a good night for the governors," Graham said.
In 2013, Matthews noted that he does political reporting for a living and confidently predicted that Senator Rand Paul (R., Ky.) would be the 2016 Republican presidential nominee. He was incorrect.
Paul dropped out of the race shortly after the Iowa caucus, where he failed to crack double digits in the polls. Paul is going to focus more on his reelection senate race, where he is being challenged by Lexington, Kentucky mayor Jim Gray.
