A new Iowa Senate ad is slamming Democratic candidate Bruce Braley for his hypocrisy in regard to equal pay for women.
Funded by Priorities for Iowa Political Fund, the ad endorses Republican candidate Joni Ernst for "standing up for Iowans" and the middle class, values Braley does not support.
"Bruce Braley is full of false promises," the ad says.
Braley’s platform mimics that of the national party and has publicly supported equal pay for women, as a method of fighting income inequality. But according to the ad, he paid women on his congressional staff just 59 cents to every dollar he paid men.
Braley was endorsed by Sen. Tom Harkin (D., Colo.), who will retire at the end of the 113th Congress. Braley has also received endorsements from Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Despite Braley’s big-money backers, Ernst, a combat veteran and mother, is leading by one point.
