Braley Claims He Voted To Authorize Airstrikes Against ISIL

That vote never happened, though

Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley made yet another slip-up during Sunday night's televised debate, saying he voted "to give the president limited authority to begin strikes against terrorists in Iraq and Syria," even though Congress has not yet voted to authorize airstrikes against ISIL.

While Congress authorized the president to arm members of the Syrian opposition, it never voted to authorize the president to carry out airstrikes against ISIL.

"Any time American citizens are attacked by a terrorist group, they need to be brought to justice or to the grave," Braley said.

Unfortunately, Braley--or any other member of Congress, for that matter--has not had the opportunity to vote on airstrikes that bring ISIL terrorists to the grave.
