Benghazi Victim's Mother: I Blame Hillary Clinton for the Death of My Son, She Should Be in Prison

July 18, 2016

Gold Star mother Patricia Smith delivered an emotional speech Monday at the Republican National Convention about the tragic death of her son, Sean Smith, who was murdered in the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack on the American consulate in Benghazi.

Smith blamed the death of her son on Hillary Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time, and charged that she lied to her face about the circumstances of his killing.

"I blame Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son. That's personally," Smith said. "In an email to her daughter shortly after the attack, Hillary Clinton blamed it on terrorism ... But when I saw Hillary Clinton at Sean's coffin ceremony just days later, she looked me squarely in the eye and told me a video was responsible."

The audience was visibly moved when Smith told them how her son feared for his life and knew that he was going to die. Sean Smith was an information management officer with the United State Foreign Service.

One audience member yelled that Clinton was a liar. Smith nodded and agreed.

"She sure is. She lied to me and then called me a liar," Smith said.

Smith went on to slam Clinton's set of policies and her loose handling of the truth, and she said Donald Trump was everything Clinton was not, calling him "direct, blunt and strong."

Towards the end of Smith's speech, she spotted a sign that said "Hillary for Prison."

"That's right, Hillary for prison," Smith said. "She deserves to be in stripes."

Smith was met with a standing ovation and members of the audience with tears in their eyes.
