Former Obama White House senior adviser David Axelrod said Wednesday on MSNBC he didn't know about Hillary Clinton's private email server while he we served in the administration, but if he had he would have inquired about it.
"I might have asked a few questions about that," he said, before saying the election was more about voters caring about their own lives rather than Clinton's.
Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski pressed him though, saying Axelrod would have done something more about it if he'd found out while in the White House.
"I would ask a question," he acknowledged. "If the St. Louis Cardinals can poach the secrets of the Houston Astros, then it speaks to the age in which we live, so I would have concerns about it."
Axelrod is not the only former Obama administration member who did not know about Clinton's private server while Secretary of State. Former Obama Chief of Staff Bill Daley told Meet the Press Sunday that he had no idea at the time that Clinton had a private server.
Axelrod said the fact Daley didn't know was "unusual."
