Arizona’s Democratic Senate Candidate Really Hates Arizona

October 17, 2018

Arizona's Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Krysten Sinema really hates Arizona.

In recent weeks, footage from numerous events has emerged of Sinema bashing the state and warning other states not to become like Arizona.

One event was at a Texas Democratic event in 2011 where she repeatedly mocked her home state of Arizona for being "crazy." In a prepared speech, Sinema described how her state is known for it's "five C's" but should be known for a sixth.

"When we grew up I remember in first grade we learned a song about Arizona," she added. "Arizona is the state of the five C's: cattle, copper, citrus, cotton, and climate. And those were the five things that our state historically made its money off of. But I would add a sixth C, it's called ‘crazy.'"

In a separate speech, Sinema repeated the "five C's" comment.

In a 2010 speech, she noted how Americans used the term "laboratories of democracy" to describe the states and said Arizona was more accurately "the meth lab of democracy."

The following year, Sinema compared Arizona to actress Lindsay Lohan, who was known at the time for her drug abuse and trouble with the law.

Sinema is running against Rep. Martha McSally (R., Ariz.) to replace retiring Sen. Jeff Flake (R., Ariz.). Polls have shown the race as neck and neck, with the most recent polls showing McSally with a slight lead.
