White House correspondent April Ryan on Monday appeared to endorse the idea of billionaire talk-show host Oprah Winfrey running for president in 2020.

Ryan, a CNN political analyst, floated the idea on Twitter of Oprah running for president in 2020, saying she represents "every person."

"If @Oprah ran for president in 2020, she is every person. She has been poor & now rich. She is also a self made Billionaire," Ryan wrote. "She has a grasp of the issues as she used to cover local politics. She can articulate any issue and she has mass appeal beyond race & gender."

Oprah delivered a well-received speech at the 2018 Golden Globes on Sunday that emphasized the importance of resisting tyranny and supporting an independent press.

"I want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association because we all know the press is under siege these days," Winfrey said. "We also know it's the insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye to corruption and to injustice. To—to tyrants and victims, and secrets and lies. I want to say that I value the press more than ever before as we try to navigate these complicated times, which brings me to this: what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have."

She also talked about the importance of the  #MeToo movement, which was ignited last October in the wake of dozens of sexual assault and harassment accusations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Following Oprah's speech, several celebrities, journalists, and commentators called on Oprah to run in 2020.

Ryan has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump and has sparred with his press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders during multiple press briefings.
