MSNBC’s Jonathan Alter warned Hillary Clinton on Thursday that she must defend herself over her email scandal and not have her handlers do it for her.
"She's got to defend herself," Alter said. "This idea of hiding behind aides, handlers, structures that insulate her from the press and the public, that's very 1990."
Alter said that if the Clintons use the same playbook as when they were under fire in the 90s, they will not be able to put a stop to this story. Alter said the rise of social media means there is a new demand for transparency from the American public, something Clinton has been reluctant to provide thus far.
"She has to rebuild trust with the entire media universe, and that means radical transparency," Alter said. "I don’t think she is going to do that, and I think she will have a lot of trouble."
