Ad Hits Bennet for Obamacare Co-Op Failure

‘Bennet said we could keep our doctors, but it just wasn’t true’

Americans For Prosperity is out with a new advertisement hitting Democratic incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet for the Obamacare co-op failure in Colorado, which forced 83,000 Coloradans out of their health insurance.

"Obamacare wasn’t supposed to be this way," the ad begins. "Over 80,000 Coloradans lost their health insurance, denied medical care. Sen. Bennet said we could keep our doctors, but it just wasn’t true."

The ad ends urging viewers to call Sen. Bennet to "tell him his vote for Obamacare is hurting Colorado before your coverage is next to go."

Colorado HealthOP, the biggest co-op in Colorado’s Obamacare exchange, announced it was folding last month. A dozen of Obamacare co-ops that received $1.23 billion in taxpayer funding have gone out of business.

"If you have coverage and you like it, you can keep it," Bennet said on the Senate floor in 2009. "If you have a doctor and you like him or her you should be able to keep them as well. We will not take those choices away from you."

"Senator Bennet said one thing and did another," said AFP Colorado state director Michael Fields. "When he voted for Obamacare he promised we'd be able to keep our doctors and health insurance, but with the Colorado HealthOP going bust, Coloradans are finding out that it just wasn't true."
