Local Iowa ABC anchor Stephanie Angleson said if you’re asking "Bernie who?" then you won’t be for long Tuesday night in reference to the surge of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) in the Democratic polls.
Hillary Clinton was back in Iowa on Tuesday but this visit was different. Clinton participated in an event with over 250 people, different from the small roundtable discussions that only included a select handful of individuals.
While Clinton still holds the lead in poll numbers, she is losing the crowd numbers to Sanders by a landslide.
"If you’re asking ‘Bernie who,' you won’t be for long," Angleson said.
"I'm standing in the room of the Iowa City public library where Hillary Clinton had her event. As you can see, it’s not very big, only 250 people can be in here," local reporter Amanda Krenz said. "That's how many people were in today and another 100 out in the hallway. That isn’t close to the number of people attending Bernie Sander's events like in Portland, Maine, with 7,500 people in the audience. Bernie Sanders has gained popularity and Hillary Clinton has taken notice."
