A Republican lawmaker said Monday that there is "zero probability" the intelligence community has not yet performed a risk-assessment of the emails Hillary Clinton transmitted across an unsecured server during her time as secretary of state, the Washington Examiner reported.
Rep. Mike Pompeo (R, Kan.) told the Examiner in a statement that federal officials have analyzed the potential damage of Clinton’s emails and "the security risk they may present."
"This is the intelligence community doing its job, just like it does every day, to determine the risk of any breaches and minimize the damage as much as possible," Pompeo said.
While federal law requires a damage assessment if classified information is mishandled, the investigation’s status has not yet been publicly disclosed, according to the Examiner.
The FBI has been investigating Clinton’s unsecured email system for nearly a year.
Government officials found that more than 2,000 emails on Clinton’s server contain classified information, though none were marked classified on her personal email. Twenty-two messages have been deemed "top secret," the highest classification level, and were withheld from public release.
