Zap! New Advanced Navy Laser Incapacitates Two Ships and A Drone With Fiery Precision

The U.S. Navy announced Wednesday that its Laser Weapon System has been approved as an operational asset, meaning that it could be used in case of an attack.

A video was released showing the system’s primary capabilities, which are the ability to destroy small boats and unmanned aerial vehicles with an infrared beam.

Testing began in August 2014 on the USS Ponce, which was deployed in the Persian Gulf.
