Webb: Iran Deal Means 'We, the United States, Are Accepting the Eventuality That They Will Acquire a Nuclear Weapon'

Democratic presidential candidate Jim Webb told NPR Wednesday that he feared the Iran nuclear deal sends a signal to the Middle East that the United States simply accepts the Islamic Republic will eventually acquire a nuclear weapon.

"My concern really is that at the bottom line of the agreement, here is what we have," Webb said. "We have Iran having their sanctions lifted, having a number of these other issues with respect to their activities not addressed and having the rest of the region receiving a signal that we, the United States, are accepting the eventuality that they will acquire a nuclear weapon."

Many critics have blasted the deal as paving the path for Iran, the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism, to eventually get a nuclear bomb.
