MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said on Wednesday that, according to his sources, Donald Trump once asked a foreign policy expert several times why the United States cannot use nuclear weapons if it has them.
The Morning Joe co-host was talking with Gen. Michael Hayden, former head of the CIA and NSA, about the Republican nominee’s lack of foreign policy experience.
Scarborough recalled a story about Trump wondering why the U.S. could not deploy nuclear weapons.
"Several months ago, a foreign policy expert on the international level went to advise Donald Trump, and three times he asked about the use of nuclear weapons," Scarborough said. "Three times he asked, at one point if we have them, why can’t we use them?"
The Morning Joe panel appeared in shock, with columnist Mike Barnicle and co-host Mika Brzezinski in disbelief.
"That’s one of the reasons why he just doesn’t have foreign policy experts around him," Scarborough said.
