Trump Admin to Allow Journalists, Aid Workers to Go to North Korea

The Trump administration will allow an exemption to its travel ban to North Korea for journalists and aid workers.

The ban, which starts on Sept. 1, 2017, will still allow Red Cross employees, other aid workers, and journalists to travel to the rogue communist country, the Associated Press reports.

The ban was inspired by the death of Otto Warmbier, an American college student who was held prisoner in North Korea after he was accused of stealing a propaganda poster. He went into a coma while he was held by the regime, and mysteriously died when he was returned to the United States.

Travel to North Korea has long been frowned upon by the United States government, but not explicitly banned.
