WASHINGTON (Reuters) – An unspecified number of U.S. military commandos were killed or wounded in an ambush in Niger, two U.S. officials told Reuters on Wednesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The officials declined to speculate on the number of casualties. The New York Times reported that three Army Green Berets were killed and two others wounded in the attack in the West African country.
