Obama Downplays Possibility N. Korea Has Capability to Launch Nuclear Missile

President Obama downplayed a report that North Korea has nuclear missile capability in a new interview with NBC that aired Tuesday morning:

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: Does North Korea, in your estimation, have the ability to put a nuclear weapon on a ballistic missile?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Based on our current intelligence assessments, we do not think they have that capacity. But we have to make sure that we are dealing with every contingency out there and that's why I've repositioned missile defense systems to guard against any miscalculation on their part.

U.S. officials have publicly downplayed a report from a Pentagon agency that North Korea has a nuclear missile capability over the last week.

Rep. Doug Lamborn (R., Colo.) read from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) report, which was "mistakenly" declassified, in a committee hearing last week.
