Obama: Bergdahl Scandal A 'Controversy Whipped Up in Washington'

'This is not a political football'

Obama dismissively answered a question about the Bowe Bergdahl scandal by beginning, "I'm never surprised by controversies that are whipped up in Washington. Right? That's par for the course."

Speaking at a joint news conference Thursday with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Obama said he would "make absolutely no apologies" for his decisions regarding Bergdahl, and that "this is not a political football."
