U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Monday addressed rumors that she and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson have a tense relationship, saying the two have a strong partnership focused on results.
"I see Secretary Tillerson as a great partner," Haley said during her first press conference after assuming the rotating presidency of the U.N. Security Council. "We work very well together, as I do with General McMaster and Secretary Mattis and Secretary Kelly. I mean, it really is a strong group of people who are committed to results."
"We all know that we each have a place in terms of this administration, but more importantly, we all know that we're working as a team," Haley continued. "There are not any dynamics that would portray anything other than that, and I've enjoyed working with all of them."
The question on Haley's relationship with Tillerson followed a Politico report published Monday that said Haley had "eclipsed the secretary of state as the country’s leading voice on foreign affairs."
