Mississippi Dem Arrested for DUI, Marijuana Possession

Meridian, Miss., Democratic mayoral candidate Rod Amos was arrested Sunday around 3 a.m., reports WTOK-TV News.

Amos was charged with DUI refusal, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, resisting arrest, and obstructing traffic.

Newscenter 11 contacted Amos about the charges. He said, " It's unfortunate that it happened and a poor decision on my part. I'm dealing with the situation and going forward the best way that I can."

The former candidate for mayor of Meridian, who lost May 7 to eventual mayor-elect Percy Bland, was released Sunday after posting bond.
