The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the car-and-knife attack at Ohio State University in Columbus on Monday.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack through its Amaq news agency, which released a statement on Tuesday saying that the attack at the university was perpetrated by a "soldier of the Islamic State," according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist propaganda.
The perpetrator of the car-and-knife attack has been identified as Abdul Razak Ali Artan, an Ohio State student. Officials are investigating whether the attack was an act of terrorism.
Artan, a Somali immigrant, was shot and killed by police after he drove his car into a crowd of people on campus and emerged to lunge at others with a knife. The rampage Monday morning left 11 individuals hospitalized.
