Not all heroes wear capes. DJ Daniel, for instance, wears badges—more than 1,000 of them.
Daniel is a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor who's always wanted to be a cop. In 2018, doctors told him he had five months to live. Daniel didn't just prove the diagnosis wrong, he ran laps around it, with more than 1,300 law enforcement agencies around the country swearing him in as an officer over the past 7 years.
Daniel reached the pinnacle of the profession in March, when Donald Trump announced in a joint address to Congress that he was making Daniel an honorary member of the U.S. Secret Service. It was the highlight of the evening for every normal American.
Congressional Democrats, terrified by the idea of Trump being associated with human happiness, sulked in silence, refusing to clap. Rachel Maddow called it "disgusting" that Trump made a "spectacle out of praising a young man who has thus far survived pediatric cancer, as if the president had something to do with that." Nicolle Wallace said she hoped Daniel would grow up to be a cop who doesn't kill himself after having to "defend the United States Capitol against Donald Trump's supporters."
Fat chance. Daniel has undergone 13 brain surgeries. We think he can handle lectern guy. In fact, we think he can handle just about anyone: Antifa thugs, violent illegals, Nicolás Maduro, you name it. It won't be long until America unleashes Daniel on its enemies, sits back, and enjoys the fruits of his labor.
Until that day comes, Daniel will keep doing what he does best: stacking up enough honors to make a four-star general blush. Here's another one to add to the pile, DJ: You're a Washington Free Beacon Man of the Year.
