Michelle Obama is hitting the campaign trail for Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe Thursday, but McAuliffe has not always had the kindest words for the First Lady.
As chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign, McAuliffe told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that he thought political attacks against Michelle Obama were fair game.
McAuliffe’s response came when asked by Hannity whether Michelle Obama’s 2008 comment that America is a "downright mean country" was a legitimate campaign issue.
McAuliffe was determined to take down the Obama campaign, and even proclaimed Hillary the winner in a MSNBC appearance the day before Obama officially received the nomination.
