White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Monday that Vice President Kamala Harris is "aligned" with President Joe Biden and will continue building on his administration's policies.
"[Biden and Harris] have been aligned for the last three and a half years. There's not been any daylight," Jean-Pierre said during a White House press briefing Monday afternoon, addressing how a Harris presidency would differ from Biden’s.
"[Harris] is going to build, going to build on the successes that they’ve had," Jean-Pierre added.
The comment could spell trouble for the Harris campaign as the vice president tries to distance herself from Biden's failed policies. The Biden-Harris administration holds one of the lowest approval ratings in history, as the United States faces record-high inflation, illegal border crossings, crime rates, and drug overdose deaths.
"They have been partners; she has been a critical partner for this president during this term," Jean-Pierre added.
Under Harris's management, 7.8 million immigrants, including nearly 100 individuals on the terrorist watch list, have crossed into the United States illegally. More than a dozen Border Patrol agents believe that a Harris presidency would "continue the same failed policies as Biden" and even exacerbate the border crisis, the Washington Examiner reported Monday.
The Trump campaign thanked Jean-Pierre for her remarks, quickly taking aim at Harris. "Today, the Biden White House confirmed what Kamala Harris refuses to admit: there is no daylight between Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. Kamala owns the illegal immigration crisis that continues to rage on our southern border; and Kamala owns the inflation crisis that has made food, rent, and gas unaffordable," Karoline Leavitt, national press secretary for Republican nominee Donald Trump's campaign, told Fox News.
"Kamala created this mess–she cannot be trusted to clean it up," Leavitt added.
