WATCH: DeSantis Says He’ll Never Drink Bud Light Again

April 18, 2023

Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R.) declared he’ll likely never drink Bud Light again, as his campaign releases a new ad mocking the company and its support for biological men playing in women's sports.

"I don't think so," DeSantis told conservative commentator Benny Johnson, in an interview released Monday, when asked if he'd drink a Bud Light again. The governor added that the protests against the company are "righteous."

"If we don't push back they're gonna keep doing it," DeSantis said. "If you don't have conservative beer drinkers, they're gonna feel that."

The comments come as conservatives continue to call for the boycott of Bud Light over its partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney earlier this month. Mulvaney revealed the partnership in a series of videos showing the influencer touting a Bud Light can featuring Mulvaney's likeness and sipping the beer while sitting in a bubble bath.

The DeSantis campaign on Monday released a commercial spoofing a decades-old Bud Light ad, calling out woke companies’ support for biological men participating in women’s sports.

The DeSantis ad plays a parody song about "real men of women's sports," a riff on an early-2000s Bud Light ad celebrating "real men of genius."

Brendan Whitworth, CEO of Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch, last week attempted to defuse the backlash against the brand in a statement, saying,"We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people."
