Huma Abedin is dating one of People magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive."
No, the former chief confidante to Hillary Clinton isn’t back together with former Democratic congressman and convicted sex offender Anthony Weiner. The New York Post reports that Abedin’s new beau is Hollywood star Bradley Cooper.
According to the Post, the two were introduced by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. A source told the Post that the two had been dating "for a few months now."
The revelation comes a few years after Abedin set off a chain of events that some analysts say caused Clinton to lose the 2016 election to Donald Trump. Abedin filed for divorce from Weiner in 2017 following revelations that he had been sexting an underage girl. That incident prompted the FBI to restart its investigation into then-Democratic presidential candidate Clinton just days before the November election.
Weiner was sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to transferring obscene materials to a minor. In 2011, Weiner resigned from Congress after it was revealed he was sexting multiple women. More sexting revelations came out two years later during his 2013 run for New York City mayor.
"It was a real journey for me to get to a place where I could allow myself to marry someone outside my faith. But he was my first love, and my greatest soulmate. … Then everything exploded," Abedin, a Muslim, told the Guardian in 2021. "He didn’t just break my heart, he ripped it out and stomped on it over and over again."
Weiner was released from prison in 2019. In a 2021 interview with the Cut, Abedin said Weiner took her virginity. The two have a 10-year-old son.
