Karen Tumulty: Why Are The People Responsible For ObamaCare Website Still On The Job?

October 18, 2013

Critics are coming down on the Obamacare website glitches. Karen Tumulty of The Washington Post discussed the website’s problems with MSNBC’s Richard Lui Friday morning. Lui read President Obama’s statement regarding the glitches:

"I am the first to acknowledge that the website that was supposed to do this was all in a seamless way has had way more glitches than I think are acceptable."

Tumulty commented "I do think there needs to be some accountability and that makes you wonder why the people who set this up are still in the job." She denied claims made by the White House that the website was inundated with too much volume, thus causing the glitches. She cited evidence that even in the test runs performed before the website’s launch, the insurance companies warned the HHS that people were not going to be able to advance past the starting point. Tumulty expressed hope that the website problems will be resolved soon, but also pointed out that these glitches undermine the credibility of Obamacare.
