Wisconsin government workers are charging taxpayers thousands of dollars for their Netflix subscriptions.
According to RedState, the bulk of the subscriptions are for the prison system:
Wisconsin taxpayers are footing the bill for thousands of dollars in state government subscriptions to Netflix.com. Four sprawling state bureaucracies combined spent $4,819.36 in fiscal year 2013 on Netflix subscriptions. Those agencies are the Department of Corrections, the Department of Public Instruction, the Department of Health Services, and the Department of Transportation. The Department of Corrections spent more than any other agency.
The state is continuing to subscribe to the popular movie rental and streaming site, spending $3,777.00 so far in fiscal year 2014.
RedState calculated that if government workers were subscribing to the basic Netflix package, which cost $7.99, it would amount to 603 months of online streaming in 2013.
