Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell will perform at a benefit concert for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign on Feb. 16 at the historic Regency Center reception hall in San Francisco.
While there has been speculation whether the entertainment industry would chill on Obama in 2012 for not being liberal enough, not to mention his opposition to SOPA, there has been no slowdown as of yet in big-time giving from Hollywood and the music industry.
Tickets to the fundraiser will cost $100 for general seating, $1,000 for preferred seating or $7,500 for preferred seating with the opportunity to have a photo taken with President Obama. All proceeds will go toward Obama’s re-election campaign.
From Loudwire:
These days Cornell lives most of the year with his wife in Paris, and when Obama won the 2008 Presidential election, he liked the unique perspective that being an expat gave him on American politics. "It’s good to get away from the States and look back through the lens that other people see us through," he told Metro Canada right after the election. "What happened on [Election Day] changes that view an awful lot."
