President Obama's response to the VA scandal was "not enough" for many veterans, NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
President Obama ordered Secretary of the VA Eric Shinseki to finish his review and promised individuals will eventually be held accountable today in his press conference.
One veteran at the American legion post in Miami reacted incredulously to the suggestion President Obama was not culpable for the scandal engulfing the VA. "He puts these people in office. Evidently he knows what's going on. Or if he doesn't he just turns a blind a eye," said Army vet Charles Bouchei.
Alex Nicholson of the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans of America also dismissed President Obama's remarks today, telling Chuck Todd "we just needed something out of the president to say that he's on this, he's taking it seriously, he's going to do something about it. And it was more of the same."
Sen. John Thune (R., S.D.) was also fiercely critical of the president. "This VA is a national embarrassment and the president's response to it is an embarrassment," he said.
Todd reported President Obama has dispatched Deputy Director of the Office for Management and Budget Rob Nabors to Phoenix to gather facts about what transpired.
