Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) announced that he would be returning to the Senate in time for a critical vote Tuesday to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

The statement, released by McCain's press office on Monday night, reads: "Senator McCain looks forward to returning to the United States Senate tomorrow to continue working on important legislation, including health care reform, the National Defense Authorization Act, and new sanctions on Russia, Iran, and North Korea."

Last week, McCain's office announced that the 80-year-old senator had been diagnosed with brain cancer.

Republicans can only afford to lose two votes in their health care bid, as all 48 Democrats and Independents oppose the bill.
