The White House today denied a story published in the U.K. Daily Telegraph claiming that First Lady Michelle Obama and Queen of Qatar Sheikha Moza spent $50,000 Sunday at a Madison Avenue Agent Provocateur store, effectively blocking off a portion of Madison Avenue in the process.
The First Lady's communications director Kristina Schake claimed, "This story is 100 percent false." The Telegraph's report of Mrs. Obama's personal spending comes shortly after news of the Obama family's $4 million Hawaiian Christmas vacation and the revelation by author and New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor that the First Lady had hosted a lavish White House Halloween party with Johnny Depp in 2009, while the country was in the midst of a recession.
Reports the Daily Mail:
The White House today issued an angry denial following claims that Michelle Obama indulged in a $50,000 shopping spree at a luxury lingerie boutique in New York.
According to a report in the Daily Telegraph today, Agent Provocateur's boutique in Madison Avenue, New York, was partially closed off for the U.S. First Lady.
But Kristina Schake, director of communications for First Lady Michelle Obama told MailOnline this morning: 'This story is 100 per cent false.'
