Iranian authorities invited "the general honorable public" to witness the June execution of a convicted drug dealer, according to a newly revealed billboard advertising the killing.

Residents of Ahwaz were invited to witness the public hanging of Mohammad Toghanian, who was found guilty of "dealing, directing, and organizing people to buy, sell, and distribute" crystal meth, according to a billboard announcing the event.

The sign was recently translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

"The sentence of execution has been handed down for Mohammad Toghanian AKA Hossein Toghan, the son of Kazem," the billboard states.

The execution was "to be carried out in public on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 8 AM at the Salman Al-Farsi (Naderi) intersection, in the presence of the honorable public of the city of Ahwaz," according to the billboard.

"Therefore, we invite the general honorable public to attend this ceremony," states the billboard, which is signed by "The Media and Public Relations Department of the Khuzestan Provincial Court."

Iran ranks second in the world in executions, according to MEMRI. Between June 30 and July 30, 2012 at least 97 executions are reported to have taken place.

The Iranian public is known to enjoy these executions and often bring their children along to witness them.
