CNN has officially terminated its agreement with comedienne Kathy Griffin to appear on the network's New Year's Eve program after she did a photo shoot of herself holding a fake severed head of President Donald Trump.
CNN's communications team released a tweet Wednesday announcing the termination of Griffin's agreement.

Griffin had co-hosted CNN's New Year's Eve special with anchor Anderson Cooper.
The comic stirred controversy on Tuesday when she took part in a photo shoot involving her holding a severed, bloodied head that resembled the president. She received sharp criticism after photos from the shoot surfaced and has since apologized.
CNN was not the only entity to cut ties with Griffin amid the uproar. Squatty Potty, the company best known for its trademark toilet stools, announced earlier on Wednesday that it had suspended its new ad campaign, which was supposed to star Griffin.
