A helicopter carrying Shane McMahon, whose mother Linda McMahon heads the Small Business Administration in President Donald Trump's Cabinet, was forced to make an emergency landing Wednesday on the water off a beach in New York.
The Robinson R44II-type helicopter landed in the Atlantic Ocean a half-mile off of Long Island's Gilgo Beach, but it remained upright and could be soon floating on pontoons, CBS New York reports.
The helicopter took off from Westchester County Airport and was en route to Westhampton when it issued a Mayday call before it went down around 10:30 a.m. Upon landing in the water, lifeguards on the beach took kayaks out to the helicopter to rescue McMahon and one other passenger. They were considered calm and in good shape.
About halfway back to the beach, the U.S. Coast Guard and police came to the scene.
A commercial flight that was heading to John F. Kennedy Airport heard the Robinson's Mayday call and forwarded information to controllers.
The FAA is investigating the incident and the Coast Guard removed the helicopter.
